Welcome to the online front door of a friendly public-spirited group of your neighbors -- the Town of Dryden Republican Committee. Our town is a beautiful and thriving collection of neighborhoods (pop. 13,532), natural resources, public institutions and private businesses which together inhabit 94.1 square miles of hills and valleys in the Finger Lakes region of central New York. The Town stretches over three valleys bounding State Route 13 (north to Syracuse) and Route 79 (east to NYC), with the scenic Ellis Hollow valley in between. Dryden is to the Northeast of Ithaca and Southwest of Cortland.
Significant areas of our town include the incorporated villages of Dryden (pop. 1,832) and Freeville (pop. 505), and the vital communities of Ellis Hollow, Snyder Hill, Varna, Bethel Grove, Etna, West Dryden and McLean. The town is served primarily by the Dryden Central School District and the Ithaca Consolidated School District, and hosts the scenic Tompkins Cortland Community College campus to the north of the Dryden Village. Lands and research facilities connected with Cornell University (on Dryden's western edge) are scattered throughout our Town.
Natural features include Dryden Lake and the waters of Fall Creek, which traverses the Cornell campus and tumbles over the Ithaca Falls into Cayuga Lake. Recreational resources include Dryden Lake Park, the Jim Schug Recreational Trail, Hammond Hill State Forrest, the Ellis Hollow Nature Preserve, Sapsucker Woods Bird Sanctuary and Cornell Plantations. Nearby commercial services include the Tompkins Regional Airport, Cayuga Medical Center Convenient Care Facility, Guthrie Clinic, Greek Peak Ski Resort, the Pyramid Mall, Cayuga Mall, Triphammer Mall and East Hill Plaza. |
